For moderately severe dehydration only with symptoms including:

Weakness

Light-headedness

Postural hypotension

Tachycardia
-
Sunken eyes
-
Dry mucous membranes
-
Oliguria
-
Ketones

**Severe cases should be admitted to the hospital
Maternity patients up to 12 weeks can be reviewed for Nausea/Dehydration.
Before referral, please complete the following tests and include in your email for referral as well as brief history

Midstream urine
-
TSH
-
Electrolytes and liver function tests

What happen next?
Once a referral is received, it will be triaged by our nurse specialists.
The patient will then be contacted to arrange an appointment with one of our doctors for assessment and management.
After treatment is completed, the patient will be discharged back into your care.
For maternity patients up to and at 12 weeks’ gestation who require IV fluid treatment, the service is funded by POAC and is provided at no cost to the patient.
**Eligibility will be reviewed by our nurse specialist prior to arranging a booking with our doctors.

Our infusion centre is a specialist centre at Northcote, currently contracted to provide POAC service for Ferinject and Maternity care Ferinject, and Dehydration management service. Our team of Doctors, clinical pharmacists and nurses and midwives onsite supports the integral multi-disciplinary care of your patient.
All services are conducted at our surgical centre at THE LAB, where all necessary equipment for safe monitoring and management is available, such as an Ultrasound, CTG monitoring and ECG.
