Over time, as skin ages, these repeated expressions cause these lines to deepen and become persistent. Botulinum toxins, such as Xeomin®, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals from nerve endings that cause these muscle contractions so that these facial wrinkles are softened. Xeomin® is manufactured through a unique precision purification process that isolates the therapeutic botulinum toxin component and removes the unnecessary bacterial components that don’t play an active role in treatment. A potential benefit of this is the reduced risk of developing neutralizing antibodies to the active neurotoxin, which may lead to less effective treatments or even complete treatment failure.
